At Classic Woodturning in Bayswater in Melbourne's eastern suburbs, we have shaped decorative corbels and brackets for Victorian, Federation and period homes since 1984. Every corbel is made to the projection and load you need, so it looks the part and does the job. From simple scrolled brackets to richly carved period designs, our corbels bring warmth and craftsmanship to kitchens, verandahs and living spaces alike.

Part of the Karem Woodcraft group, we manufacture in a choice of timbers to suit paint, stain or a natural finish, and we deliver Australia-wide from our Victorian workshop. Our full matching service lets us copy an existing or broken bracket from a photo or a sample, ideal when you are extending a heritage home or replacing a damaged one. If you have a custom size, a specific timber or a particular period profile in mind, we can make it.

Sizing a corbel is about matching load and proportion. Tell us the height, the projection you need from the wall and the width of the timber, along with what the piece will carry, whether that is a floating shelf, a stone benchtop, a mantel or a verandah beam. If you are working from an existing bracket, a photo with a tape measure in shot is usually all we need to quote the right piece. We can make one bracket or a matched set for a whole verandah.

Matching is a large part of what we do. In Melbourne's heritage suburbs, inner-city terraces and the weatherboard homes of country Victoria, a single broken bracket can hold up a whole restoration.
