Timber Gable Vents

Timber gable vents combine two jobs at once: they let a roof space breathe and they finish the gable with an authentic period detail. Classic Woodturning has been making heritage timber components since 1984, and from our Bayswater workshop in Melbourne's eastern suburbs we manufacture decorative and functional louvre vents to suit Victorian and Federation homes across Victoria. Each timber gable vent is made to order, so the louvre spacing, frame and proportions match the character of your home while providing genuine ventilation.

Sizing a vent starts with the opening or the gable area you need to ventilate: send us the width and height of the aperture, or the footprint if the vent is surface-mounted, and we will size the frame and louvre blades to suit. We build in weather-ready timbers and can supply vents raw, primed or fully finished, with insect screening fitted behind the blades where you want to keep the roof space clear of pests and birds.

Because gable vents are exposed to the weather, originals often rot or clog and need replacing, which is where our matching service helps. Whether you are restoring a Victorian cottage in Richmond, an Edwardian home in the heritage suburbs or a weatherboard in regional Victoria, we replicate the size, louvre pattern and timber from a photo or the old vent so the replacement looks right and fits first time.
